| HOME | MediationDivorce mediation is an alternative to litigation when disputes arise over child support, child custody and visitation, and equitable division of marital assets and debt. Litigation often leaves both parties feeling taken advantage of, whereas mediation is designed to generate agreements that address each individual's interests. Because we are independent, some members of Collaborative Family Law Affiliates provide neutral divorce mediation services, in which a couple, along with consulting divorce lawyers (when appropriate), work with an experienced divorce mediator to resolve your outstanding disputes. This gives us the capability to allocate different processes to different problems. The trained mediator acts as a neutral and does not represent either party. It is the role of the mediator to assist you and your consulting attorney, so that you can identify the most important interests on each side, engage in meaningful negotiation, and craft agreements that take those interests into consideration. Mediation involves compromise and it is not a winner-take-all process. Because agreements forged in mediation are developed by you and because you have ultimate authority over the terms in your agreements, you are more likely to leave mediation with workable, realistic, and fair agreements. Contact us to discuss how our divorce mediation services can work for you. The first face-to-face contact with the mediator contact should be as a couple.
